ZOEY THOMAS
- Started riding in 2010
- Favorite discipline is eventing.
- Biggest accomplishment is Placing 9th with her team at Nationals for Horse Judging back in 2018 and dropping only 7 points out of a possible 600 in evaluation.
- Her favorite thing about teaching is getting to "reexperience" the first times. Her perspective is constantly refreshed and knowledge affirmed when students do anything for the first time.
From Zoey:
"I started riding back in 2010 as an outlet during my parents divorce. I leased 2 horses during my time there, one of which was an ex-4**** eventer. I worked in the barn from 6-8a every weekday before school to pay for leasing and lessons. I started attending NCSU in 2018 and worked for another small farm retraining OTTBs and resolving horses' behavioral problems. It was there that I learned a passion for grooming and management.
Some fun facts about myself include that I worked in Ocala, Florida in spring of 2020 at Peterson & Smith Equine. There I met Laura Graves, Diane Waldron of Waldron's Racing Arabians, the producers of the Budweiser Clydesdales, and the owners of BayTree Farms. The head veterinarian there was the president of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association. I also am good friends with the Director of Operations of the World Equestrian Center in Ocala."
