ABOUT THE CU TEAM

Though we hope to become a highly competitive team with high expectations for our performance inside the show ring, we have also set our expectations high for our performance out of the saddle. We want to develop riders into team riders, building lasting relationships, and turning good riders into great riders.

The team consists of both English and Western riders and is a club sport through Campbell University. Riders may have little or extensive horse experience with a team comprising of walk/trot members all the way through those competing in open fences. Riders do not need their own horses as we (Hidden Springs) provide schooling mounts.

MEMBERSHIP

CU team members must be actively enrolled at Campbell University; tryouts for the club team will occur after the first week of classes during each fall semester to create the year's team. An interest meeting is held prior to tryouts to give general information for those considering joining the team.

You do not need to have extensive horse knowledge to join the team as a successful IHSA team is made up of a variety of riders with varying skill levels. Those students wishing to learn more about riding or grow their skill prior to tryouts can attend team practices or take lessons with Michelle at Hidden Springs.

Members are required to pay club dues which vary based on the rider's preferences and discipline. Additionally, riders will need to pay for their IHSA membership to compete and be listed on the teams roster at shows.
