MICHELLE STEPHENSON

- Started riding in 1991

- Enjoys all riding disciplines.

- Biggest accomplishment is her growing lesson program.

- Her favorite thing about giving lessons is problem solving, she enjoys it both as an instructor but also enjoys teaching students how to problem solve and develop their skill.

From Michelle:

"I've been riding since before I could walk really but didn't start consistently until I was 3 years old. At age 12 I began assisting an instructor with lessons; by 14 I took over her lessons as she was pregnant and planning to move. I gained all of her existing students and gained new ones by word of mouth. I actually started teaching with my own childhood pony and boarders' horses.

When I was 16 I saved up enough money to purchase my own horse, that horse was 2 year old Dee Dee. Since then my program has grown a bunch and is my biggest accomplishment. Having a program that can accommodate kids and adults, English and western, show and leisure riding. A place that provides a comfortable and safe atmosphere for equine enthusiasts of all levels.

Some of my achievements and careers include: Campbell University's equestrian team (IHSA) head coach 2011-2018, IEA coach in Hunt Seat and Horsemanship, NC Horse & Pony owner & instructor,  Girl Scouts horse camp director, and 4-H group leader. I actually just accepted a position recently with Campbell again as their head coach."
